The Project Outline

The Higher Qualifications Pathway Project will enable the Advanced Design and Building team to use e-portfolios as a tool for the repository evidence for competence which will then be a “marketable” resource for advancement into industry and/or Higher Education.

E-portfolios provide an easily transportable body of evidence that assists in further education applications and/or employment opportunities.

The Gordon TAFE’s Advanced Design and Building department aims to provide flexible delivery and assessment options for the Diploma of Building Construction.

Students will be required to develop an e-portfolio which will be used as evidence of competence within the Diploma of Building Construction.

The e-portfolio will aim to replicate the industry standards of presentation and content.Completion of the Diploma of Building Construction offers pathways into industry at management level and to Bachelor of Construction Management (Deakin)

·         Liaising with Industry formation of linkages for increased local growth and connectivity.

As an educator, I've always been passionate about the opportunities that technology offers for creating a more authentic, meaningful and engaging educational experience for teachers and students.
In my current role I work daily with teachers to implement the wise use of ICT in the context of effective teaching and learning. I originally trained as a Primary School teacher, became a School Support officer in the area of Health education and then discovered my true passion for exploring ways that technology can enhance the delivery of quality learning.
Since 2006 I have been working in a campus wide capacity, carrying out a number of job roles: initially as an e-mentor in the Business studies area, supporting teachers in all things "e". I have worked in the Teacher Training section of Education Development and taught Certificate IV in TAA and Diploma of VET (Practice) to our beginning teachers, specialising the e-learning units.

I aim for wider and deeper discussion about education and learning technologies, and to build networks and connections with other leading educators within these communities.

My role also requires me to assist in the planning and implementation of Institute wide professional development - some of which I have now created as online training. I have presented numerous workshops at conferences for educators on how e-tools may be used effectively for learning

I am an active contributor to online communities for educators, including Twitter. As a member of these communities I maintain a global perspective on current issues and trends with regard to ICT in education. .
